The Toasty Overview

Left the world of cubicles to start my own creative design agency. A new father to the perfect daughter with the best wife ever. Typically found working in the backyard with my dogs and a cigar... and possibly a pint... or glass of vino.

Life is good.

Big Kid Wheels

We have officially retired Jen's 10-year old, 100k+ mile, janky, VW Golf. Jen drove 'Ol Bessy to the Tracy Honda dealership we got down to business with my brother-in-law, Todd, who worked his magic and got into a shiny new Honda Pilot.

Isn't she lovely?

We didn't really have a game plan aside from knowing we wanted to leave with a new car. There were only 5 cars left on the lot and interestingly enough, the first one we saw ended being the one we bought. It was actually the "demo" car so it had 6k miles on minor wear but we were still able to get the new car warranty and some snazzy upgrades too. All in all, we got a great deal (thanks again Todd)!

Surprising how priorities in car has changed in our lives. We're now giddy about:

  • 4wd (camping baby)
  • third-row seating (day trips with friends now possible)
  • a dvd player (shhh, put your headphones on and watch Wow Wow Wubbzy)
  • cargo space (watch out Alameda Flea)
  • an auxiliary jack (streaming Pandora)
  • an AC outlet in the center console (to charge the iPhones and laptop)
  • leather seats (easier to clean Cheerio crumbs)
  • lumbar seat adjustment (shut up, I'm old)

So yea... we're excited about the possibilities now.

[Shout out to my girl! I still have my Civic. It's totally impractical now but I love it. She only has 60k miles and runs like a charm. She's MY car. She goes to wine country, travels to client meetings, golf outings and brew pubs like a champ. She smells of cigars, is all scuffed up, has drunken-night evidence throughout (anyone sitting in the back, be warned)... but damn I love that car. At the rate I put miles on her, she could see the day Olivia gets her license.]

congrats!! can I get a ride so I can watch some TV in the back-- I seriously can't wait to get a new car with a TV. I might turn into the Mom in the Siena commercial who will watch in there to get away from it all!!
